Sustainability Focus Group

The Sustainability Focus Group (SuFG) of the O-RAN Alliance works with MVP-C to coordinate initiatives with all O-RAN Work/Focus groups to: optimize energy consumption, reduce environmental impact, and create more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly mobile Networks

Specifically, SuFG:

• Pushes, prioritizes and provides leadership on energy efficiency and sustainability activities in alignment with MVP-C procedures and release plans

• Develops White papers and Technical Reports to advance O-RAN Energy Efficiency and Sustainability goals

• Emphasizes focus on high-priority items to enable Energy Efficiency and Sustainability objectives to be met

Our main goal is to optimize energy consumption and reduce environmental impact through the following activities:

• Understand what energy efficiency and sustainability work is being developed in the Alliance

• Identify missing topics concerning to energy efficiency and sustainability

• Promote energy and sustainability improvement initiatives

• Prioritize and accelerate the development of improvement initiatives mentioned above

Main sustainability initiatives:

• Accelerate software energy optimization

• Standardization of energy measures

• Optimize hardware energy consumption

• Circularity, Eco rating seal
